Morado Glacier Trek

3 hours Trekking to an amazing glacier with small icebergs floating in glacier formed lake. "Patagonia" only at 3 hours travel from Santiago.

Description:
We will take the road through the Maipo Valley heading San José de Maipo. After a short stop for a visit of the nice old Church we go on taking a dusty gravel road to reach the Río Arenas valley. There we start our two and half hour trekking of medium difficulty, which brings us to the easiest accessible Glacier in Central Chile. The Morado Glacier breaks with 15 meter high ice walls into the small glacier lake formed by himself. The floating ice shelves attract our eyes. In case that the conditions allow us we will walk upon the glacier to the steep wall of the hanging glacier. The Morado glacier is located at an altitude between 3000-3500 m.

In spring this is a snow trekking, which requires better equipment and better physical preparation. In summer it is an easier walk.
