Application

Your application should consist of:

Cover note (in English or Spanish) describing your ideas of the internship: when, where, how long, in which area, which type of company or institution, your motivation and anything else that helps us finding an appropiate placement for you.
Your resume (CV), if possible in Spanish, with a current photo. Please mention especially any practical experience in your area and try to be honest about your Spanish level.
If at hand, other internship reports and language course certificates.
Please check our internship list and provide us with the codes of the places you are interested in.

We will then ask you for an application deposit of 50 USD (see Costs) and start arranging the ideal placement for you.

How much time ahead?
According to the area and the internship placement you apply for we need between 2 and 10 weeks in order to prepare a specific offer for you. Therefore you should try to send your application 3 to 6 months before the desired starting date so that you have sufficient time to plan your trip. Exceptionally, we may be able to arrange an internship in less time. On the other hand, if you apply very early you might have to wait longer because companies and institutions in Chile do not plan very much ahead.

Program costs

Once accepted the placement, we will ask you to deposit the program costs completely in advance, at least ten days before your arrival.

Admission & Reservation
At the moment of applying we will ask you for an application fee of 50 USD. This amount is considered part of the whole program costs and will be deducted from the balance once you accept a position and pay the program. There is no admission fee!

If we do not offer you an internship in the desired area within 10 weeks (counting from the moment we receive the application fee), we will restore the application fee to you (deducting transfer costs). If you withdraw your application within these 10 weeks or if you do not accept an internship offer, there will be no right to refund.

Once accepted the placement, we will ask you for a reservation deposit of 215 USD. The balance of the complete program costs is due, at least, two weeks before your arrival.

The Program costs are charged on a weekly basis:

changes reserved, changes reserved, made prepayments will be discounted from the total payment.

These program costs include the following services

• Arrangement of internship place
• Arrangement of lodging
• Lease of lodging including expenses (except telephone, internet or board). Lodging can be with families, other students, or young professionals, in single rooms with private or shared bath, use of kitchen and common spaces. We try to respect your preferences. If you have special wishes regarding the situation and equipment of the place leading to higher rents, we might have to discuss an extra charge. The same applies to the option of furnished apartments.
• Preliminary information about Chile, the internship place and the internship itself
• Transfer service from the airport to your housing facility
  Informative talk upon arrival in Santiago
• We accompany you on your first day to the company/institution (only in Greater Santiago)
• Mediation in case of difficulties or problems; if necessary, we look for an alternative placement
• Regular informal meetings with other internship participants and ContactChile staff members (only in Santiago).
• Food is not included but can be booked optionally. Some families or boarding houses offer breakfast and/or lunch and/or dinner.

Internship without housing

If you do not need housing, we charge a single fee including all services listed above except arrangement and lease of lodging and airport transfer.

Program costs without housing:

Already paid application and reservation fees will be deducted from the total costs.
