TANDEM Santiago - Hot thermal water springs in the Andes

Highlights:

Bath in warm thermal water, Trekking to cascade and mountain lake, great views to huge Glaciers and the turquoise El Yeso dam

Description:

Driving through the Maipo valley we make a short stop in San José de Maipo to visit the nice old church. Afterward we take a gravel road, which climbs up to the drinking water dam El Yeso, at an altitude of 2800 m. The clear crystal air allows us fascinating views to snow covered peaks of over 5000 m which surround the turquoise water of this artificial lake. The road becomes worse and the landscape more pristine, when we reach the Termas del Plomo. From here we start our 2 hour walk through a valley full of fossils, passing a nice cascade decorated with flowers to a small mountain lake and back to the thermal springs, which consist of a natural basin containing the thermal water of about 22ºC, in which we can have a relaxing bath.
